The South African branch of The Salvation Army is using The Dress for their campaign against domestic abuse.
The branch tweeted a photo of a woman wearing a white and gold dress with a caption that asked why it is so hard to see black and blue.
Last week, the internet went crazy debating whether or not a dress was originally black and blue or gold and white. It became one of those internet trends that annoyed many, but now The Salvation Army branch is being applauded for putting a powerful spin on the trend.
The branch talked to Buzzfeed News and said, “For the past few days the internet has been swarming with comments about ‘the dress’ – overall people have been commenting how they hate the fact that an insignificant thing like this could take priority on the internet over more pressing topics such as abuse,” the company said.
